Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) @ NID 2026: Apply Now


National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (NIDA) and its extension campuses at Gandhinagar & Bengaluru, is an ‘Institute of National Importance’ as per the NID Act 2014. NID functions as an autonomous Institute under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. 

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) courses offered by the following National Institutes of Design:

* National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad

* National Institute of Design, Andhra Pradesh

* National Institute of Design, Haryana

* National Institute of Design, Madhya Pradesh

* National Institute of Design, Assam

Important Dates:

Last Date for Submission of Online Application Form: 11:59 PM (Midnight), Monday, 01 December 2025

Date of Design Aptitude Test (DAT) – Prelims: Sunday, 21 December 2025

DAT Prelims Result 4 pm. Tuesday, 07 April 2026

DAT Mains Exam To be announced later

Eligibility:

All candidates applying for the B.Des. must fulfil the eligibility criteria of both age and educational qualification as under. 

Age Limit:

 ▪ For Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2005 are eligible to apply for admission. 

▪ For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST): Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2002 are eligible to apply for admission. 

▪ For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2000 are eligible to apply for admission.

 ▪ For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2005 are eligible to apply for admission. 

Educational Qualification: Applications for academic year 2026-27 are open to candidates who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2025–26 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities etc.) from any recognized board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or equivalent. Candidates who will be appearing for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2025–26, should have passed the same in the first attempt and submit their qualifying marksheet on or before 15 July 2026. If the candidate has any backlog/ compartment/supplementary or fails to submit his/her Class XII passing result or have not cleared the Class XII examination on or before 15 July 2026, whatsoever may be the reason, his/her admission will be treated as null and void (cancelled) and the entire fees will be forfeited

Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2026: Apply Now

 


Admissions to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur are done through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). Students who have passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2025, or appearing in 2026, in ANY STREAM (Science, Commerce, or Arts & Humanities) are eligible to appear for UCEED 2026.

IMPORTANT DATES

Last date for Online Registration with regular fee: October 31, 2025

Last date for Online Registration with late fee: November 07, 2025, 5:00 pm

UCEED 2026: date and time of exam: : January 18, 2026 (Sunday)

09:00 am to 12:00 noon


Eligibility Criteria for appearing for the Exam

A candidate, including a foreign national, must simultaneously fulfil every one of the following three criteria to appear in UCEED 2026.

Criterion 1 – Age limit:
The candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 2001, if belonging to the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category and born on or after October 1, 1996, if belonging to the SC, ST or PwD category.

Criterion 2 – Number of attempts:
A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times, and that too in consecutive years. Note that the UCEED score is valid for one year and only for admissions in the same corresponding academic year.

Criterion 3 – Qualifying examination:
A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2025 OR 2026 to be eligible for attempting UCEED 2026. Students from ALL STREAMS (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible.

Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination (Class XII) in 2024 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in UCEED 2026.
