IISER Aptitude Test (IAT): Apply Now


 

The Government of India has established the IISERs at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, and Tirupati to integrate and promote interdisciplinary science education and research.

IISER Aptitude Test (IAT)

IAT 2025 will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 9:00 AM.

IAT 2025 will be conducted as a computer-based test in various centres across India.

IAT will consist of 60 questions, 15 questions each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

Total duration of the test will be 180 minutes. Questions will be of multiple choice type. Each question will have only one correct answer.

  • Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks.
  • Each incorrect answer will lead to the deduction of 1 mark.
  • Unanswered questions will be awarded 0 mark.
  • Therefore, maximum marks in IAT will be 240.

The total marks obtained by a candidate out of 240 will be considered for preparing the Rank List.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be Indian nationals, OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals to apply for IAT 2025.

  • Candidates must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2023 or 2024 or 2025 with science stream from any board recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India. Foreign Nationals need to upload an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities unless they have passed the Class XII or equivalent level examination in 2023 or 2024 or 2025 with science stream from any board recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India. The equivalence certificate must be uploaded while submitting the IAT 2025 Application Form under "Please upload copy of document supporting your claim of Foreign National (You'll need to produce original when necessary)".

  • Candidates must have taken at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics during their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.

  • For admissions to the following programs, candidates must have Mathematics during their Class XII (or equivalent): 5-year BS-MS in Computational and Data Sciences program at IISER Kolkata, 4-year B. Tech. program at IISER Bhopal, 4-year BS in Economic Sciences program at IISER Bhopal and 4-year BS in Economic and Statistical Sciences program at IISER Tirupati.

  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD are required to score a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination. Candidates belonging to other categories are required to score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination. Note that, the percentage needs to be calculated using aggregate marks, that is, considering ALL the subjects taken in class XII (or equivalent) level.

B Stat (Hons), B Math (Hons), B SDS (Hons) @ INDIAN STATISTICAL INSTITUTE: APPLY NOW





The Indian Statistical Institute, known widely as ISI, was founded in 1931 by Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis. Growing out of a small Statistical Laboratory set up by Professor Mahalanobis in the Presidency College in Kolkata, the Institute soon moved into its present campus at Baranagar on the northern outskirts of Kolkata. Ever since that humble beginning, over the past nine decades, the Institute has undergone phenomenal growth and is now widely regarded as one of the leading institutions in the world as a centre for research and training in Statistics and related sciences. In recognition of the importance of the Institute in the development and application of Statistics, the Parliament of India, in 1959, enacted the Indian Statistical Institute Act, declaring it an Institution of National Importance and empowering it to grant degrees and diplomas in Statistics. In 1995, this Act was further amended, empowering the Institute to grant degrees and diplomas also in Mathematics, Quantitative Economics, Computer Science and other subjects related to Statistics as may be determined by the Institute from time to time..The headquarters of the Institute is located in Kolkata. However, centres of the Institute have come up over the years in other major cities. At present, the Institute has four centres operating at Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Tezpur

List of Academic Programmes and Eligibility Criteria (UG):

 1. 3-year Bachelor of Statistics (Hons) [B Stat (Hons)]: Successful completion of 10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or its equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects. The programme is offered at Kolkata. Stipend: ₹5000/- per month.

 2. 3-year Bachelor of Mathematics (Hons) [B Math (Hons)]: Successful completion of 10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or its equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects. The programme is offered at Bengaluru. Stipend: ₹5000/- per month. 

3. 4-year Bachelor of Statistical Data Science (Hons) [B SDS (Hons)]: Successful completion of 10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or its equivalent) a) in 2024 or 2025, b) with (i) Mathematics / Applied Mathematics and (ii) English as subjects of study, and c) with at least 75% marks in aggregate. The programme is concurrently offered in Kolkata, Delhi and Bengaluru. The courses will be taught in the hybrid mode. Tuition fee: ₹1,00,000/- per semester. There will be provision for full waiver of tuition fee for SC-ST/ PwD candidates, and full or partial waiver based on family income

Candidates who are due to complete the qualifying examination before 21 July, 2025 may also apply

Central University Entrance Test (CUET), for admission to different programmes of the participating Central Universities, will provide a single window opportunity to the students to seek admission in these participating Universities / Institute(s) across the country.The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) Scores will be used for admission into UG Programmes in all Central Universities/ Participating Universities for Academic session 2025-26. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas, and help establish better connections with the Universities. . ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility For appearing in the CUET (UG) - 2025, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12 /equivalent examination or are appearing in 2025 can appear in the CUET (UG) - 2025 examination. However, the candidates will be required to fulfill the age criteria (if any) of the University / Institution / Organization in which they are desirous of taking admission.
