Indian Maritime University (IMU) Common Entrance Test: Apply Now

The Indian Maritime University (IMU), headquartered in Chennai, was established on 14th November 2008 as a teaching-cum-affiliating university under the aegis of the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India. It was set up to promote maritime studies, training, research and extension with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other related fields, and to achieve excellence in these areas. 

IMU has 6 Campuses at Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai Port, Navi Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. 

IMU offers under- graduate, post-graduate and doctoral studies in maritime fields through its four schools spread over six IMU Campuses and its Affiliated Institutes across India. The programmes offered are unique and tailor made to suit the industry needs. This fact is corroborated by a placement record which is among the best in the country.

IMU Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET)

IMU conducts the Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET) every year on All India basis for admissions to its Programmes for IMU campuses, Affiliated Institutes and Non-Affiliated Institutes with IMU. As per DGS Training Circular 12 of 2020, dated 01.04.2020, all Maritime Training Institutes [MTIs] regulated by DG Shipping are required to admit candidates on the basis of IMU-CET ranking and as amended from time to time. IMU-CET is mandatory for admission to DGS approved Programmes. Hence Candidates seeking admission in Pre-Sea Courses Diploma in Nautical Science, B.Sc. (Nautical -Science) and B.E / B.Tech. (Marine Engineering) to any MTI (Govt. or Private- Affiliated to any University) are required to qualify in IMU-CET.

B.Tech.

4-Years B.Tech. (Naval Architecture & Ship Building) Visakhapatnam Campus 

Eligibility :

(i) 10+2/equivalent (PCM-Average: Minimum 60%) and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th OR 12th Examination. (ii) Marital status – Unmarried. iii) Valid IMU CET rank

B.Sc

3-Years B.Sc. (Nautical Science) Chennai, Kochi & Navi Mumbai Campuses

Eligibility :i) 10+2/equivalent (PCM Average-Minimum 60%) with minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th/12th Examination. OR B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years, with an average of not less than 55% of the marks in the final year. OR B.E./B.Tech. Degree from IIT or from a college recognised by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of the marks in the final year. ii) Marital status: Unmarried. Note: The candidate should have a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th/12th/Degree Examinations. 

BBA

3-Years Apprenticeship embedded BBA (Maritime Logistics) in collaboration with LSC Visakhapatnam Campus 

3-Years BBA (Logistics, Retailing and E - Commerce) Chennai & Kochi Campuses 

Eligibility: 

10+2/equivalent with minimum 50% of aggregated marks in any stream and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th Examination. Note: Percentage of the Aggregate marks will be calculated by considering the marks scored in English subject plus the marks scored in Major Subjects (excluding other languages).

Diploma Programmes

1-Year Diploma in Nautical Science Chennai & Navi Mumbai Campuses

1-Year Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering Mumbai Port Campus

Eligibility:

i) 10+2/equivalent (PCM Average-Minimum 60%) with minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th/12th Examination. OR B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years, with an average of not less than 55% of the marks in the final year. OR B.E./B.Tech.
